The designer based this set around the twin shapes of the heart and the palm-leaf fan to express the Buddhist concept of experiencing “three thousand realms in a single moment of life”, and honoring the infinite potential and desire for inner and outer peace and harmony in every individual. Each piece is studded with diamonds to provide the heart-shaped surface with the texture of a fan. Each of these tiny studs symbolizes a moment of life, dozens of which adorn each heart, the symbol of a person’s inner spiritual world. This expresses a peaceful state of mind that embraces the connections between all persons and things in the natural world, and is rich in Zen Buddhist symbolism.
